London Economics advised Nominet, the UK domain name registry, on the potential direct and indirect impacts of introducing of second-level (“.uk”) domain name registration in the UK. We advised Nominet on impacts as the form of their proposal changed in response to inputs from stakeholders. We used existing data and evidence sources to qualitatively describe both the costs and the benefits of the Nominet proposals and we also quantified some impacts drawing on a survey of consumers commissioned by us, as well as surveys of other stakeholders commissioned by Nominet.
