Environment and Climate Change

Stewardship of our natural resources and mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change are of critical importance to current and future generations. Action is required at a range of spatial levels from local to regional to national to global and from a range of actors across the public, private and third sectors.

LE’s high quality economic analysis helps diagnose the environmental and climate change problems we need to address and identifies the costs and benefits of various forms of action. Our senior team includes a former Chief Economist and Director of Analysis from the UK’s Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and former Chair of OECD’s Environment Policy Committee, as well as experts on water markets, stated and revealed preference techniques, and energy and climate change.

Case studies

Examples of our work include:

  • Analysing, quantifying and valuing the environmental benefits of the Meteorological Office
  • Economic analysis of the range of services that space investment can provide to improve land use management
  • Novel analysis of green claims made on products
  • Using behavioural economics and other techniques to examine the case for different water abstraction regimes
  • Assessing the impact of climate change and measures to both mitigate and adapt as part of projects for government departments and agencies
