Commitment to achieving Net Zero

London Economics is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

London Economics is an economic consulting firm. Our company’s products are economic advice and analysis for government organisations, non-governmental bodies and private sector firms in the UK, Continental Europe and internationally.

London Economics is an SME. We have been measuring and tracking out tCO2e emissions since 2010. We hold BSS 8555:2016 for our Environmental Management System.

Since 2010 we have been measuring our Scope 1 emissions using Defra’s greenhouse gas conversion factors.

As an SME we are located in serviced offices, to date we are unable to separate our energy and water use (Scope 2), as these costs are bundled into our monthly rent and our landlord currently is unable to sperate these costs for individual tenants. However, we work actively with our landlord to reduce emissions across the estate in which our offices are located. We continue to seek ways in which we can measure our Scope 2 emissions and aim to include Scope 2 in our emissions reporting 2022-23.

As an SME we do not report Scope 3 emissions. However, as part of our BSS 8555:2016 accreditation we require our sub-contractors to report their EMS policies, processes and impacts to us on an annual basis.

Below is a summary of our reduction achievement so far:

Emissions reduction targets

As of our BSS 8555:2016 accreditation we set yearly emission reduction objectives.

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

  • Reduction of our carbon emissions by at least 5% each year.
  • We, therefore, project that our carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 440 tCO2e by This is a reduction of 23%.
