CALL TO ACTION – Please participate in the ‘Size & Health of the UK Space Industry 2024’ Survey
Dear colleague,
I am writing to encourage you to participate in the 2024 survey, which we are launching today.
Comprehensive outputs from the Size & Health research are important for UKSA and DSIT to make evidence-based decisions about how to support the space sector. Survey responses allow us to present accurate data and understand trends across measures including income, employment, and investment, which directly influence wider government when it comes to future funding decisions. This information allows us to demonstrate the breadth and scale of the sector and justify public investment in space. The survey provides evidence to support decisions on where and how funding should be allocated in the space sector, which drives more effective targeted interventions that provide the greatest benefits.
We have made key survey improvements based on extensive feedback from previous surveys. As a result, we have significantly reduced the survey size, and it should now take no longer than 20 minutes to complete. We will continue to review and improve the survey on a yearly basis.
Participation is voluntary but we are grateful for you making the time to participate, ensuring that we are best equipped to make the case for space in the UK. Your decision to complete or not complete the survey will not affect your relationship with the UK Space Agency in any way.
Concerning data confidentiality, all information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence and in accordance with our privacy guidelines. Only aggregate, anonymised information will be published, and only UKSA and DSIT will receive raw data. Even approximate information or partial responses will be useful, as they contribute valuable insights. Survey respondents will receive an Excel file with the Summary Report table and chart data. We intend to publish the study in early 2025.
For any queries, please contact Rasmus Flytkjaer at London Economics, an economic consultancy we have appointed to carry out the 2024 study on our behalf, or Will Duffy at the UK Space Agency.
We would greatly appreciate your support.
Yours sincerely,
Sir Chris Bryant
