Rhys is an Economic Analyst at London Economics working on a wide range of topics with an interest in Competition Policy, Education and Climate Change. His role at LE comprises qualitative and quantitative research involving data collection and manipulation, statistical and econometric modelling in Stata and Excel, as well as the preparation of literature reviews and desk-based background information gathering. Rhys holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics as well as an M.Phil. in Economics, both from the University of Cambridge. Currently, he is undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Econometrics at Birkbeck College, University of London. Prior to LE, he completed an internship at the National Institute for Economic and Social Research and has also had experience teaching in a secondary school.
At LE, Rhys has been involved in a number of projects in the Education and Competition teams, as well as work in other sectors. He has worked on projects assessing the socioeconomic benefits of a university’s activities in China; evaluating competition aspects of a telephone merger, reported on a large-scale survey of exporting firms; and developing an impact assessment for the contribution of High Performance Computing to the UK economy. Currently he is working on a project evaluating vertical restraints alongside a project considering the effects of recent Apprenticeship Reforms on disadvantaged learners.
