Daniel Herr is an Associate Director in London Economics’ data & technology practice area working on topics related to emerging and innovative technologies, and analytics and data science. Daniel is an experienced manager of analytical and data science teams, with more than a decade of experience across the technology, research, and analysis fields. Through this he has gained extensive experience in undertaking and leading complex analysis projects and managing teams of highly skilled analysts and data-scientists, as well as generating practical insights from large and complex data sets. In addition, Daniel has extensive experience in providing economic, analytical and public-policy advice to a wide range of UK (e.g. BEIS, CO, DfE, DIT, ONS, UKSA, and UKRI) and international (e.g. the European Commission, the Australian National University) clients.

Daniel has a substantial technical knowledge founded in rigorous academic training in software engineering, econometrics and traditional statistical approaches, as well as advanced statistical modelling including machine learning and artificial intelligence. Daniel graduated in Informatics and Software Engineering from the Secondary Technical College Leonding and holds advanced degrees from York (BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics), Cambridge (MPhil Economics) and Emeritus in collaboration with Columbia Engineering Executive Education (PGDip Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning). In addition to the experience gained at London Economics, Daniel’s professional experience includes several years of work as a software developer and quality assurance tester, and as a lead data scientist.
